Drug Uses
Sumycin is used to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.
How Taken
The usual adult dose is is 1g to 2g a day. Your doctor may decide to prescribe you bigger doses in case of severe infections. You should not discontinue therapy for at least 24 to 48 hours after the symptoms and fever have subsided.
Warnings/Precautions
Consult your doctor first, in case you are hypersensitive to tetracyclines. You should not use Sumycin unless you have proven or suspected bacterial infection or a prophylactic indication as this will increase the risk of the development of drug-resistant bacteria.
Missed Dose
If you miss doses or do not finish the full treatment course, the efficiency of the drug may significantly decrease compared to the immediate treatment. There is also a possibility the bacteria to develop resistance and may not be treatable by Sumycin or other antibacterial drugs in the future.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects are: epigastric distress, anorexia, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, bulky loose stools, sore throat, stomatitis, glossitis, dysphagia, black hairy tongue, hoarseness, enterocolitis, and inflammatory lesions (with candidal overgrowth) in the anogenital region.
Storage
Keep the tablets at room temperature and avoid excessive heat. Dispense in tight, light-resistant containers. Make sure it is out of the reach of children

If you suspect an overdose, find instant medical help.
