How Drug Works
Imitrex treats the blood vessels and the nerves which are responsible for migraine headaches.
How Taken
If you suffer from migraine, take only one dose of Imitrex. If needed you can have two doses but in all cases not more 200 mg a day and only with doctor’s prescription.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects include: dizziness, fatigue, nausea, drowsiness
Warnings/Precautions
You should not take Imitrex in the following cases: Raynaud syndrome, transient ischemic attacks, allergy to Imitrex, uncontrolled blood pressure, certain types of heart disease, strokes in the past, peripheral vascular disease. Inform your doctor in advance in case you smoke, have high blood pressure and cholesterol, diabetes.
Overdose
Imitrex should be taken only in case of a migraine attack.
Drug Interactions
Before starting any treatment with Imitrex, inform your doctor if you take headache medications, ergotamine or MAO inhibitors such as phenelzine, linezolid, selegiline, tranylcypromine, furazolidone.
Missed Dose
Imitrex should be taken only in case of a migraine attack.
Storage
The medicine should be kept in its original container, at normal room temperature and have to be prevented from moisture and heat. Make sure it is out of the reach of children.
Pregnancy/Nursing
In case of pregnancy, consult your doctor before starting any treatment with Imitrex.
